Mildred Scism Obituary

SAUGERTIES….. Mildred R. Scism, 81, of Malden Tpk. died Wednesday, October 4, 2023 amongst loved ones at home.  Born January 7, 1942 in Kingston she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Scism.

A graduate of Kingston High School she was a member of the Ponckhockie Congregational Church in Kingston.   Mildred worked as the Office Manager at Prudential in Kingston for 35 years before retiring.  After retirement she worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Douglas Hunt for another 10 years in Stone Ridge.

She was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Scism Roberti, her brother in law, John F. Roberti, her brother, Donald Scism, Sr., her niece, Debra Scism and her nephew, James H. Scism, III.    Survivors include a brother, James (Norma) Scism, II, a niece Roseann (Jon) Decker with whom she resided.  She is also survived by a nephew, Donald (Kim) Scism, II, nieces Lisa (Phil) Uvino, Melissa (Kevin) Gregory and Michelle (Joe) Hill.

Mildred loved visits from her grand nephew, Jon Decker, Jr., especially when he brought his children Jaxson and Mackenzie Decker with him.   Several grand, and great grand nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for their excellent care of Mildred in her final days.  Family suggests donations in her memory be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, 153 Sawkill Rd., Kingston, NY  12401

Her services will be held privately.   Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.   Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Mildred’s Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
