Nancy H. Delmege, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut, with her family at her side.
Nancy is survived by her loving daughter, Debra Dickson of Niantic CT, and her devoted son, James Delmege, of North Chili NY, both of whom will forever treasure her memory and the love she shared so readily with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her brother David Hilton, and her loving husband James Delmege in 2020. Her love continues through her eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense love to her life. Family and friends were Nancy’s greatest source of joy.
Born on November 14, 1933, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Nancy was the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Urquhart) Hilton. A graduate of Lynn High School, she pursued her calling to help others by attending the New England Deaconess Hospital in Massachusetts. There, she earned her nursing degree, paving the way for a lifelong career defined by compassion and professional excellence.
Nancy spent many years as a dedicated nurse in a private doctor’s office, where her steady hand and kind heart provided comfort to many.
Nancy and her beloved husband, James, made their home at 7 Garden Circle in Saugerties, New York. While James built a career with IBM, they focused on raising their family and cultivating strong friendships and deep roots in the community. Upon retirement, Nancy and James enjoyed many winters in Florida, where they loved the warm weather and the company of good friends. They later spent several years in North Chili NY before moving to Niantic CT.
Beyond her professional life, Nancy was a gifted and prolific artist. She found great joy in creating beautiful watercolor and oil paintings, capturing the world through her unique perspective. These works of art are cherished by her family and will be passed down as part of her legacy for generations to come.
Graveside services will be private, and a celebration of Nancy’s life will take place this summer in Niantic, Connecticut, where her family and friends will gather to honor the beautiful life she lived. She will rest with her husband at the Veterans Cemetery in Middletown Connecticut.
