SAUGERTIES - Neil B. Crantek, 71, of North Dr. entered eternal rest Friday, May 3, 2024, at the residence he shared with his partner of over 40 years, Lurline Adams. Born June 15, 1952 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Floyd T. and Ruth G. (Burhans) Crantek. A graduate of Saugerties High School Class of 1971, he entered the US Army and served honorably in Cambodia and Thailand during the Vietnam War. Before retiring, he was employed as an electrician for Local 363 out of New City. Among other projects, he was a member of crews constructing the Nine Mile and Nine Mile II nuclear power plants and IBM Fishkill’s Advanced Semiconductor Research facilities. He was a 50-year member of American Legion Post #1748. Like the rest of the Crantek family, Neil had a lifetime love and respect for animals and he shared his home with a variety of dogs and cats over the years.
Survivors include three sons of whom he was extremely proud: Jared (Michelle), Jeremy (April) and Dalton (Ivana) Crantek. Three sisters: Juanita (Nicholas) Ronsini, Ruth Ann Jones and Melinda (Richard) Plasse. Four treasured grandchildren also survive.
Friends and family are welcome to share in the Grave-side Funeral Service, which will be held at the New Paltz Rural Veteran's Cemetery at noon on May 20. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made in Neil’s memory to either American Legion Post 1748, 12 Old Stage Rd., Lake Katrine, NY 12449, or The Animal Support Project, PO Box 68, Cropseyville, NY 12054. Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Neil's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
