Nigel Redman Obituary

PURLING, NY - Nigel Antonio Redman, age 70, died suddenly on May 28, 2024, in his home with his loving wife Anastasia Redman, age 70, by his side. They were a couple for 48 years.

Nigel was a man of many accomplishments, but his greatest pride was his family. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. The story of his life was one of overcoming hardship, charting a unique path on his own terms, and pouring his love and wisdom into his family and friends.

Nigel was born on June 1, 1953 in Bridgetown, Barbados, to the late Doris Perkins. He immigrated to the United States when he was almost 11-years-old and lived in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. He was bused to an all-White middle school, where he overcame extreme racism during the Civil Rights era. Nigel graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1972 with a concentration in engineering. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Baruch College in New York City in 1976.

Nigel was a respected entrepreneur; he founded companies including Canter-Redman Technologies Corporation, Technov Industries, and Network Electronics. He developed products for the broadcast industry and traveled internationally, designing television studios in developing countries. He most recently served as the Vice President of Engineering for Tower Products Inc, the parent company of Markertek Video Supply in Saugerties, NY until his retirement in 2011. Never one to stand still, he then founded a consulting firm called JC Technologies, and remained active in his community, volunteering his time to design and maintain a public access television studio, Lighthouse TV23.

His is survived by his wife (Anastasia Redman), children (Meagan Redman-Gomez, Jason Redman), son-in-law (Ricardo Gomez), daughter-in-law (Jeanine Redman), four grandchildren (Anastasia and Carmen Gomez, Miles and Nico Redman), three siblings (Victoria Redman, Patricia Singletary, Judy Sandford). He was predeceased by his brother (Trevor Redman).

His Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Friends will be received on Thursday 7-9 PM.   Expressions of condolence may be sent to the family on Nigel's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
