Philip Edward Faraday, 64, died peacefully on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx after losing his battle with cancer.
Son of the late Albert “Abie” and Dorothy (nee Parker) Faraday, Phil was born in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City on April 17, 1957. He grew up on West 57th Street and graduated from Power Memorial Academy of New York City in 1975, and received an Associate’s Degree of Labor Studies from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. He entered the IBEW Local 3 in 1979 where he built a lifelong career. He was also a member of the Catholic Council of Electrical Workers.
Those who knew Phil know he had a quiet but strong demeanor. He was genuine and he was kind. He was always smiling and never left a room without checking to see “if anyone needed anything”. He enjoyed playing card games, watching hockey, listening to music and spending his summers on Lake Sacandaga at “camp”. He taught his sons to play hockey and his daughter to love the sport. He had perfect timing with his one-liners, and loved looking at homes for sale where he and his wife could retire.
He is survived by his loving wife Diane (nee Lareau), his sons Kevin (Cameron) and Ryan (Alexandra), his daughter Caitlin, his grandchildren Amelia and Jack and his brother Albert and his wife Barbara. He is also survived by his nephew Al (Katherine), great nieces and nephew (Caroline, Claire, Aiden), his in-laws, Bertrand and Jacqueline Lareau, as well as his uncle Eddie Faraday, a wonderful family of cousins and friends, and two lifelong friends Robert (Patricia) Jones and William Courtney.
His Service of Remembrance will be held 1:00 PM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts. Saugerties. Friends will be received Saturday 12 Noon to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Blue Mt. Cemetery, Saugerties.
