Philip Overbaugh Obituary

MANCHESTER,CT.     Philip A. Overbaugh, 83, of Kenwood Dr., and formerly of Malden-on-Hudson, NY died Monday, April 12, 2021 at the Manchester Memorial Hospital.  Born October 11, 1937 in Kingston, NY he was the son of the late Clarence and Sarah Tymeson Overbaugh.  A Veteran of the United States Navy he served during the Korean War.

A lifetime area resident he was a graduate of Saugerties High School Class of 1955.   He served his community as a life member of the Malden-West Camp Fire Co. where he served as Chief from 1972-1975 and a former fire commissioner of the district.  He was a charter member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge #2574.  An active outdoorsman he held memberships in the Ruby Rod and Gun Club, Saugerties Fish and Game, Saugerties Landowners and the Cementon Sportsman Club.   He enjoyed cooking and was always involved in the kitchen cooking or bar-b-queing for the many organizations he belonged to.

Survivors include his wife, the former Winifred “Winnie” Canger, with whom he recently celebrated his 58th Wedding Anniversary.  A son, Philip C. Overbaugh of Catskill, a daughter, Patricia Zumpe of Ellington, CT., and a grandson, Trevor Zumpe.  Two cousins, Phyllis Freligh of West Camp and Richard Breithaupt of Raliegh N.C.  He was predeceased by two brothers, John and David Overbaugh.

His Service of Rememberance will be held 11:00 AM Monday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.   Interment with military honors will follow in the Trinity Cemetery.  Friends will be received Sunday 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  Facial coverings and social distancing rules to be observed.  Family suggests donations in his memory be made to the DAV or the Wounded Warriors.   Further obituary information and expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Phil’s Tribute Wall @SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
