Regina Johnson Obituary

SAUGERTIES……Regina M. Johnson (affectionately known as Jean),  83,  of Sterley Ave. died Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, surrounded by her family.  Born in 1940 in Wilkes-Barre, PA she was the daughter of the late Francis and Angela (Stachowicz) Wojcik.  An area resident since 1978 she previously resided in Canal Fulton, OH and Levittown, PA.

Jean's faith was the foundation for the love and compassion she showed to everyone.  She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Snow RC Church and its Rosary Society as well as a member of the Saugerties Columbiettes.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.   She passed down the traditions of her Polish heritage, especially a Christmas Eve tradition of making pierogi with her family.  She found joy in gardening and sharing her fresh vegetables with friends and family.  In addition to her hobbies, she selflessly dedicated her time and energy to volunteering locally at the Well and the Saugerties Food Pantry, finding purpose in serving others.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Walter, four daughters: Anita (Reginal) Simmons of AR, Sharon (Greg) Greth of Saugerties, Diane Johnson of Saugerties and Eileen (John) Frederick of VA.  A sister, Janice Calkin, nine grandchildren: Annalise, Eddie, Jonathan, Lauren, Courtney, Andrew, Erin, William and Mae.  six great grandchildren: Markell, Ariyonna, Kayden, Brooklynn, Ka’Maria and Laken and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Walter, III, a brother, Francis Wojcik, a granddaughter, Kelsey Aria and a great grandson, Eddie, III.

Her Funeral Procession will form 9:15 AM Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties then to St. Mary of the Snow RC Church where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Thursday 4-7 PM. Memorial contributions can be sent to Catholic Charities, 6 Adams St. #3, Kingston, NY 12401 or Saugerties Food Pantry, 44 Livingston St., Saugerties, NY 12477. A Memorial Tribute Book will be organized using photos and condolences shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com.
