Richard J. Moses

SAUGERTIES - Richard (Dick) Moses, 82, passed away on May 13, 2024 after a long battle with COPD and emphysema. 

He was the son of John and Helen Moses - as a youngster he was very talented and artistic.  He grew up on Long Island in West Hempstead and graduated with honors from the West Hempstead High School.  He played the violin beautifully and performed in the NY City area often. Although he became a remarkable engineer and had a long career with IBM, he never lost his love for music.

After he graduated from RPI he moved to the Hudson Valley area where he fell in love with horses and horseback riding. This is where he met and fell in love with JoAnn Sauer and her daughter Lee Ann (aka Annie). JoAnn and Richard wed and built a beautiful home in Saugerties. Richard was active in community services and was a member of Blue Kats. He enjoyed antiquing and listening to music.

He is predeceased by his parents and wife JoAnn. He is survived by his sister Susan Moses Bloom, his nephew (Susan’s son) David Amoyal, his step daughter Lee Ann Michael and her husband Naren Michael.

His Visitation will be held Friday from 12 noon till 1:30 PM. at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc, Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.   A graveside prayer and burial will take place at 2:00 PM Friday at the Mt. Marion Cemetery.   Family suggests donations in his name be made to the Blue Kats Mens Club, 236 Blue Mt.
