Richard V. Ricks

SAUGERTIES....Richard V. Ricks, 65, of Spruce Ln., died Wednesday November 24, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by family. He was born on June 6, 1956 in Kingston to Patricia Flicker Ricks and the late Edward Ricks. After graduating with the Saugerties High School  class of 1974, he started working as a diesel mechanic for the U.C. Highway Dept. He retired in 2018 after 48 years of employment. Richard was an active member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge and the Centerville Cedar Grove Fire Dept. He was a member of the Tuesday Night Dart League in Boiceville, enjoyed Caribbean cruises, line dancing and motorcycles. Those that knew him well knew that there wasn't a Hooters Restaurant he'd drive past without stopping. 
He loved and cared for his family, his wife, with whom they shared 16 years together, Cindy; daughters, Desiree (Tim) Slager of TX, Sherry (Christopher) Murnan of CA and Karena (Scott) Shaw of Fishkill; sons, Darryl (Michell) Ricks of FL, Kevin (Amanda) Schultz of Pleasant Valley and Keith (Ashley) Schultz of Rosendale; sisters, Peggy (Bill) VanWagenen and Karen (Chet) Brodhead of Kingston; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 
His Funeral Service will be held Sunday 12 noon at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hudson Valley Hospice or the Saugerties Elks Lodge.
