Richard Sauer

LAKE KATRINE- Richard Sauer, 77, Penstock Lane died Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home.  Born May 8, 1947 in Catskill he was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy Sauer.  A lifetime area resident, Rich graduated from Catskill High School and SUNY Ulster and was employed for 33 years as an Account Clerk for the NYS Corrections Dept., in Napanoch, NY., retiring in 2002.  After his retirement he and his wife re-located to Las Vegas for seven years before returning to the Hudson Valley to be closer to family.  An avid NY Yankee and NY Jet fan, Rich also enjoyed bike riding, walks in his neighborhood,  playing blackjack at the casinos, and being with family.

Survivors include his wife, the former Carol Sharrett, two daughters: Larissa (Liam) O'Neill of Lake Katrine and Carly (Kevin ) Larkin of Port Ewen.   A son, Michael (Olivia Brant) Sauer of Astoria.  Four grandchildren: Margaret and Terrence O'Neill and Lucas and Josie Larkin and several nieces and a nephew also survive.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Sauer and Irene Baccaro.

His Funeral Service will be held  10:00 AM Monday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.   Friends will be received on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 PM.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with his family on Rich's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
