Robert P. Caporale

SAUGERTIES - Robert Pellegrino Caporale, 85, of Mary Ann Avenue, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the HealthAlliance Hospital, Mary's Avenue, Kingston. He was predeceased by his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Caporale, and his sister, Rosemarie Caporale. Born March 8, 1939, in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Gennaro and Helen Salerno Caporale. He attended Dodge Vocational High School in the Bronx, graduating in 1956. He then served in the United States Army as a rifle sharpshooter and carbine marksman in the 457th Ordnance Company stationed at Fort Hood, TX.

A tireless worker, Bob began his professional life balancing two jobs to support his family, working as a New York City Yellow Cab Taxi driver in Manhattan while also building a career at Chase Manhattan Bank. His banking career spanned 39 years, with positions in Manhattan, Syracuse, and Saugerties.

A Saugerties resident since 1976, Bob was involved with the Ulster County SPCA and a devoted member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed cooking, working in his yard, watching the New York Yankees and New York Giants, and most of all, taking walks and spending time with his beloved dogs, Bob and Chanel. As a loving grandfather, "Poppy" cherished attending events to support his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his sons, Robert (Dina) of Naples, FL; Steven (Amelia) of Newtown, CT; and Christopher (Christine) of Niskayuna; and daughter, Michelle (Jordan) Copland of Norwood, NJ. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday  at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John & Lafayette Streets, Saugerties. Interment will take place in Blue Mt. Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.   Family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Ulster County SPCA.   Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Bob’s Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com.
