Robert L. Martin

HIGHLAND…… Robert L. Martin passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Vassar Brother Hospital with his loving wife, Irene at his side.   Born August 21, 1938 in Beacon, NY he was the son of the late Edmond and Esther Martin.  A veteran of the US Coast Guard he served from 1957-61.   He was employed for 35 years at IBM as a Senior System Analyst. 

Bob’s early childhood years were spent in Coxsackie.  He lived in Saugerties for many years where he served on the Saugerties Central School’s Board of Education, was a member of the Thursday Night Mens League at the Saugerties Bowlers Club, where his career high game was a 298.   He was a member and past president of the Saugerties Jaycee’s and a member of the Woodstock Golf Club.   He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, the former Irene Pellizzari; a daughter, Sherri and her husband Paul Masten of Saugerties; two sons: Robert “Bobby” and his wife Janice Martin of Saugerties and J. Christopher White of Marlboro; ten grandchildren:  Amanda (Chris) Winters, Katerina (Thomas) Fenton, Robert (Olivia Hoffman) Martin, Seth Martin, Charles (Christine) Jansen, Brandi Hudson, Tanner and  Shawn Jansen,  Austin and Chris Masten; great grandchildren: Ryan, Lillianna, Kensi, Owen and Brantley and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sisters: Elizabeth Flynn and Mildred Phipps and his twin brother, Richard Martin.

His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Burial with military honors will be in the Blue Mt. Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Friday 2-4 and 7- 9 PM.  Donations in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.   A memorial Tribute Book will be organized using photos and condolences shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
