SAUGERTIES…. Robert A. “Bobby” McCaig, II, 79, of Houtman Rd. died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at the Westchester Medical Center. Born March 8, 1944 in Bainbridge, GA., he was the son of the late Dr. Robert A. and Blanche McCaig.
A graduate of Saugerties High School, Bobby went on to graduate from the University of Miami. From there he was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a 2nd lieutenant serving in Viet Nam.
He retired from Prudential Insurance after 35 years of employment and currently was employed at Naccarato Insurance. Bobby was an avid golfer, with a long time membership at Rip Van Winkle Golf Club, a lifelong Cubs fan and a dedicated Miami Hurricanes fan. Active in the community he was a former Ulster County Legislator, member of the Saugerties Board of Education, Saugerties American Legion Post #72, a long time member of the Lions Club, Blue Kats and a former member of the Town of Saugerties Police committee.
Survivors include his wife, the former Diane Warns; son Rob and his wife, Jessica McCaig of Saugerties; daughter Katy and her husband, Brian Moir of Seymour, CT; his beloved grandchildren, Jared, Dylan, Lily, Jack, Stella, and Luke and sister Bonnie McCaig of Cohoes. He was predeceased by his sister Janet Terpening and brother Donald McCaig.
His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Monday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Friends will be received on Sunday 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM. Family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Saugerties American Legion Post #72, 30 John St., Saugerties, NY 12477.
