Robert Pole

Robert L. “Bob” Pole, 90, of Saugerties, passed away peacefully at Westchester Medical Center on Monday, May 15, 2023.  He was born at home in Gardiner, NY on March 18, 1933, to the late Michael and Lillian (Roth) Pole.  Bob graduated from New Paltz High School and SUNY Delhi.  He worked for Smitty’s Body Shop in New Paltz for more than 50 years.  He did say his dream job would have been a farmer!  For many years, he enjoyed the weekly game of volleyball with “the volleyball group.”  Baseball was his favorite sport, especially the New York Mets.

Survivors include his wife of over 18 years, Monica (Lauten) Pole; children Michael Pole (Jessica Ortiz) of California, and Robert T. Pole of North Carolina; grandsons, Bo, Eddie and Robert; six great grandchildren; sister, Joan Trainor of Wallkill; niece Debbie Trainor of Wallkill; nephews Raymond and Craig Trainor of Booneville, NY and their families; and other beloved family members.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Hess Pole, and his daughter, Lauranne Wallenquist.

He was a faithful member of the Saugerties Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  When he was able, he followed Jesus’ example of sharing the Bible’s message.  He looks forward to seeing all his family members who predeceased him in the Resurrection hope that the Bible promises in the Paradise to come.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Burial will take place on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at the Modena Rural Cemetery, 2165 Rte 32, Modena NY 12548

Memorial service is to be held Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 293 Mike Krout Road in Saugerties at 2:00 pm.   Zoom ID: 898 6886 0332  Passcode: 1914
