Robert Seckler Obituary

Robert Seckler, a man of intelligence, love, and wisdom, passed away peacefully at his residence on November 26, 2023. Born on April 1, 1937, in Queens, Robert lived a life filled with dedication to his family, his students, and his country.

Robert was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. His thirst for knowledge led him to further his education at Hofstra, where he obtained a Masters in Business, and at Iona, where he completed a Masters in Education. His academic pursuits laid the foundation for a career that would impact countless lives.

Robert served his country with honor and bravery in the US Army.  His experiences in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and resilience, traits that would guide him throughout his life. After his service, Robert transitioned into a career in education, becoming a beloved High School History teacher at Westbury High School in Long Island. His passion for teaching and his commitment to his students left a lasting mark on the many lives he touched.

In his personal life, Robert was a devoted husband to his wife, Carol Seckler, and a loving father to his children, Roberta (Christopher) Brown of Briarcliff Manor and Frederick Seckler of Broadalbin. He was a proud grandfather to Wesley and Jake Brown, who brought him immense joy. Robert was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Seckler, whose memory he held close to his heart. Robert is survived by his sister in law Ann Seckler, nephews Arthur, James and Robert; cousins Sr. M Jean Agnes Geraghty,  OP, Kenneth and James Geraghty.

An avid reader, Robert found solace and inspiration in the pages of countless books. His love for literature was infectious, inspiring those around him to explore the world through the written word.

Robert lived by the words of Albert Einstein, who once said, "The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination." He encouraged his students, his children, and his grandchildren to dream big, to question, and to never stop learning.

Robert Seckler's life was a testament to his faith, the power of education, the importance of service, and the enduring strength of family. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
