Robert Speirs

Robert T. Speirs, 77 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Nov. 9th 2025.

Born on April, 24th 1948 in Throgs Neck, The Bronx, NY.  He was the son of the late Robert Sr. and Dorothy Speirs.  The family moved to Friendly Saugerties in 1959.  Bob was a graduate of St. Mary of the Snow, Saugerties High School, Ulster County Community College, and New Paltz College.  He served in the United States Army in Vietnam.

As an athlete since childhood, Bob loved playing baseball from little league to college as an outstanding southpaw pitcher.  As an adult, Bob could often be found on the golf course collecting many trophies.  One of Bob's greatest loves was spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his love for sports.   

Bob taught elementary School in the Saugerties School District for 30 years.  Any student would remember Bob by the nicknames he gave them.  Bob's sense of humor and quick wit always left everyone laughing.  Anyone who met Bob left feeling happy.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Holly; His daughter Melissa Lawrence and her husband Michael Washin; three grandchildren, Cooper Lawrence, Eli Washin, & Roseanna Washin; by his brothers Tom & John Speirs, sister Joan Misasi (Chuck), many nieces and nephews, and brother-in-law Larry Delanoy.  He is predeceased by his brother Jim Speirs.

The family thanks the VA and all the caregivers who provided such compassionate, loving care.  He loved you all.
