Robert E. Wagner

Robert Emmett Wagner, Jr., age 65, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 2, 2026. He was born on November 20, 1960, grew up in Saugerties, New York, and lived a life marked by service, strength, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

He was the beloved son of the late Bob Wagner, Sr. and Lorraine Wagner. He was also a cherished brother to Mark Wagner and his wife Serena of Saugerties, Lorraine Florczyk and her husband Gary, Margaret Peggy Wagner, and Patricia Pat Brandt and her husband Robert.

Robert served his country with honor as a Chief Warrant Officer II in the United States Army. His military career January 6, 1979 to January 9, 2003 reflected his sense of duty, discipline, and commitment to something greater than himself. his awards are many and not limited to those listed. 

Army achievement medal three times, Army reserve, Components Achievement Medal three times, National Defense Service Medal two times, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/m Device, Noncommissioned, Officers, Professional Development Ribbon three times, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Marksman, Infantrymen Badge, Air Assault Badge, awarded Afghanistan Campaign Medal. 

Beyond his service, Robert found peace and joy in the outdoors. he especially loved flyfishing trout streams and hunting, pursuits that allowed him to appreciate quiet moments, patience, and the beauty of creation. Whether standing beside a stream or spending time in the woods, he felt most at home in the places where nature offered both challenge and calm. 

His Memorial Service will be held Sat June 27, 2026 at 2PM the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery 81 Plains Road New Paltz New York 12561
