SAUGERTIES...Rodney L. Stones, 65, of Cherry Lane, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Albany Medical Center. He was born in Warsaw, NY on September 13, 1956 to the late Miral B. Stones, Sr. and Claire Skelly Stones. He graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1975. As a teenager he held what became one of his most beloved jobs, a skate guard at Silver Lake Roller Rink. He was an excellent skater and made many friendships during that time. While living in Perry, he also worked at the beautiful Letchworth State Park. Upon moving to Saugerties, he worked at Ferroxcube Phillips for ten years. He then spent thirty years as a Watershed Maintainer with the NYC DEP Bureau of Water Supply at the Ashokan Reservoir in Shokan, NY, retiring in 2018. He was a member of the DC 37 Union. He enjoyed playing SAA Softball, card games (poker and euchre), darts and shooting pool with family and friends. In his down time, Rodney loved rooting for his favorite football team the Buffalo Bills and watching old movies, especially anything starring John Wayne.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Diane Amendola Stones of Saugerties; daughter, Sandy (Shannon Connors) Stones of Westwood, NJ; sister-in-law, Jean Carnright of Saugerties; brothers, Glen Stones of Rochester, NY and Mark Stones of Perry, NY; sister, Karen (Michael) Traczyk of Castile, NY; nieces and nephews, Melissa, Timarie and Valerie (John Saunders) Traczyk and Carrie, Jeff, Jamie and Jason Stones; great niece, Ariana Saunders, and his best friend, Travis Spencer.
He was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Wilson and brother, Miral B. Stones Jr.
His Visitation will be held Saturday, October 23rd from 2-5 pm at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc, corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties, NY.
