SAUGERTIES...Ronald A. Bravo, Sr. of Old Canoe Hill Rd., died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at his residence. He was the son of the late Francis "Jack" and Dorothy Bray Bravo of Catskill and Hudson, NY. An area resident for 50 years, he worked for Kingston Oil Supply as a service technician for 35 years until retirement.
Much of his life he volunteered for the local fire departments, beginning as a member of J.W. Hoysradt Hose Co. in Hudson from 1964-69 then in Ulster County where he became a member of the St. Remy Fire Dept. for four years before moving to Lake Katrine where he joined the Ruby Fire Dept., for 16 years. He held the position of Fire Chief, Asst. Fire Chief, President, Vice President, 2nd Lieutenant and served on the Board of Directors.
He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Lake Katrine and later the Plattekill Reformed Church, Mt. Marion and Grace Church, Lake Katrine.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dawn; two sons, Ronald A. (Diane) Bravo, Jr. of Saugerties and Brian K. (Kim) Bravo of Ringed, NH; two brothers, Alan of Catskill and Barry Bravo of Margate, FL; step sister Lucy Spratt of Gloversville; two granddaughters, Courtney and Abigail Bravo and his friends, neighbor John Werner and Rev. Frank Fabiano.
He had many hobbies some of which were, he loved being a skate guard at Wooden Wheel Roller Rink, his time as a social director at Woodland Hills Campground for ten years and many great years snowmobiling with friends at Old Forge and Tughill. The family would like to extend gratitude to the Hospice Caregivers, especially nurse Deb.
His Funeral Service will be Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Burial will follow in the Mt. Marion Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Ruby Fire Dept.
