Saugerties….Ronald E. Strasser, 79, of Wildwood Lane, died Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Kingston Hospital surrounded by his family. Born July 20, 1942 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Rudolf and Elizabeth Strasser. They moved to Saugerties, NY while he was in elementary school and the area became his home.
A graduate of Saugerties High School, Class of 1960, Ron proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He attended Dutchess Community College where he studied to become an electrician. He owned his own electrical business and also worked for KTB as an electrician for many years. He is remembered as a hard working, community oriented, caring person and father. He will be deeply missed and remembered.
Ron was a person of faith and lived life serving others. He was an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Saugerties, as well as a member of the Town of Ulster Kiwanis Club. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Ron volunteered to help rebuild homes, offering his skills and electrical expertise. In his free time he loved to work on his Avantis Studebaker cars. He would enjoy taking Sunday drives with his family, especially to enjoy the fall foliage in Vermont.
Survivors include: two daughters: Diane Stedner of Tennessee and Dr. Christine Strasser of Virginia; and a son, David Strasser of Virginia. Four grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Mary Strasser and his sister Joan Glosch.
His Funeral Service will be held 12 noon on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Friends will be received from 10am-12 noon on Wednesday. Interment with military honors will follow in the Mt. Marion Cemetery. Family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Atonement Lutheran Church or the Ulster Kiwanis Club, PO 414, Lake Katrine, NY 12449.
