Sandra Snyder

SAUGERTIES.... Sandra Ann Snyder died October 11, 2021 at her residence at the age of 79.  Born and raised in Amsterdam, NY she was the daughter of the late Estelle and Joseph Meilunes.  She was married to Douglas W. Snyder for 58 years who predeceased her in 2020.
     Sandra received an art scholarship and chose to attend SUNY New Paltz where she graduated with a Bachelors in Education and accepted  an elementary art teaching position with the Kingston City Schools.   
     While raising three sons, she did art work on a commission only basis.  These encompassed stage design, window displays, furniture design, construction, collages, wall hangings, room decorations for large walls, designs for advertising purposes as well as the 3-dimensional painting on canvas which became her chosen form of artistic expression "Dimensions of Nature".
     Sandra returned to teaching in 1981 at St. Mary's School and in 1982 did home instruction for Saugerties Central Schools til 1998.   She organized a latchkey program at Mt. Marion School under the Family of Woodstock in 1985.
     Sandra travelled the world to view first hand the art , architecture and culture of the world she taught about.  As a member of the UC Art Assoc. her work was displayed in group shows, individual shows, as well as many juried craft shows.
     Survivors include Brian (Noelle), Bruce (Tracy) and Jeffrey (Ellen) Snyder.  Grandchildren:Jenna, Bella, Brittany (Robert), Benjamin, Joshua and Tyler.  Sister, Judy (Peter) Radik, brother, Michael (Sandra) and children.  Brother in Law, Larry Hannaford and his partner, Gary Anderson.
     She was a member of St. John the Evangelist RC Church in Centerville since 1969.  Sincere gratitude to the wonderful neighbors who have been there for the Snyder's entire time of need.  
     Her Funeral Service will be held privately.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Expressions of condolences may be shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
