Sarah Joan Brandt, 93, of Mt. Airy Rd., died Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Ivy Lodge in Saugerties. Born October 25, 1932 in Bayridge, Brooklyn she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Thompson. An area resident for many years she was active in the community belonging to the Cedar Grove Fire Co. Auxillary where she also served as the Secretary of the Board of Commissioners and was a member of the Eastern Star. She served as the Secretary of the Blue Mt. Cemetery for over 35 years. She was a member of the Blue Mountain Reformed Church for 59 years and the secretary/treasurer of the Cheerful Workers Society . She was also a long time employee of the Saugerties Post Star.
Predeceased by her husband, Everett, in 2012, survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann (Nick) Orichio of Newton, NJ, three sons, Edward (Ingrid) of Round Top, Robert (Pat) of Saugerties and William (Jill) Brandt of Saugerties; A son in law, David Barrett of MD; eleven grandchildren, Scott, Samantha, Rachel, Matthew, Rebekah, Taylor, Andrew, Bradley, Kathleen, Jacob, and Vanessa; four great grandchildren: Chase, Camden, Jack and Archer; nephew, Art Thompson and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Barrett, son, Scott Thomas, a grandson, Joel Barrett and a brother, William Thompson.
Her Funeral Procession will form 11:00 AM Thursday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts. thence to the Blue Mt. Church where at 12 noon her funeral service will be conducted. Burial will follow in the Blue Mt. Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
