Shirley Nelson Obituary
BARNEGAT, NJ - Shirley E. Nelson of North Main St., Lanoka Harbor, NJ died Monday, February 10, 2025 at the Barnegat Nursing and Rehab Center. Born July 7, 1932 in Kingston, NY she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Rachel Nieffer.
Shirley was a graduate of Saugerties High School and a longtime member of the Saugerties Atonement Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and directed the children's choir.
Predeceased by her husband, Charles in 2010 and her sister, Janet Nieffer McElrath, survivors include two daughters: Janet and her husband, John Shwiner of Waretown, NJ and Joanne and her husband, Daniel Balderose of Barnegat, NJ, and her son Joseph Canger of New Brunswick, NJ. Five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Atonement Lutheran Church in Saugerties. Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc.
