Stephen W. Baran, Jr.

SAUGERTIES - Stephen W. Baran, Jr.,  77, of Baran Ridge Rd., died Monday, February 3, 2025 after a short illness at Vassar Brothers Hospital.   Born June 23, 1947 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Stephen and Jean Baran.   A graduate of Saugerties High School he began a career at IBM in Kingston.  Upon his retirement from IBM, he worked at Hunter Mt. on the ski lifts and later at Markertek in Saugerties.

Steve loved the outdoors and working and caring for his property.  He was a student of Kung Fu, loved the NY Giants football team, playing the board game, Risk, playing his guitar, music, and video games with Sal, Dave, Dave and his son, Steve.  Family was very important to him and in return he was important to all his family.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy of 53 years; a daughter, Stacey Baran; a son, Stephen W. Baran, III and his wife, Christine; two brothers, Michael and Kerry (Cindy) Baran; five grandchildren, Stephen IV, Samuel, Sophia, Nicolas and Olivia, and his aunt, Elaine Bechtold.

His Funeral Service will be held 10AM on Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Burial will follow in the Blue Mt.
