Steven A. Bittermann

CATSKILL.....Steven A. Bittermann, 60, of Catskill died suddenly at home on May 28, 2023. Born August 16, 1962 in Rome, NY to the late Robert & Nancy Bittermann, Steve is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dianne (Schloss); son Nathan and daughter Erica; sister Ann Marie (Quentin) Dixon; aunt Karen (Chuck) Doman; mother-in-law Beverly Schloss; sisters- and brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Dilly, his faithful four-legged companion.

Steve graduated from Saugerties High School in 1980 and the Ohio Diesel Institute (Cleveland, OH), and soon after began his career as a diesel mechanic at Mountain View Coachlines (Poughkeepsie). He later worked for Lezette Express (Saugerties) and Bethlehem Central School District, from which he retired after 25 years. In continuation of his father’s dedicated work, Steve served as caretaker at Blue Mountain Cemetery for over 20 years and was a board member for Katsbaan Cemetery, which he also helped maintain. In his spare time, he deeply enjoyed his hobby as a ham radio operator. Steve battled diabetes and multiple sclerosis, but would never let you know if he was suffering. He would do anything for anyone, as each of the many lifelong friends he leaves behind will attest. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Steve’s name to the National MS Society so that others, like Steve, may benefit from their work to bolster the lives of those living with MS.

His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.  Friends will be received on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Steve's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
