Sue Shader Obituary

SAUGERTIES...Sue Shader, 78, of Goat Hill Road, died Thursday August 19, 2021 at her residence. She was born on February 7, 1943 in Saugerties to the late Romaine and Pauline Keefe Wilber. She graduated Onteora High School with the class of 1960.

She grew up on a farm in Mink Hollow and learned her way around horses from a young age. She enjoyed barrel racing and horse shows in her younger years and never lost her love of horses.

Along with her pre deceased life companion Richard Benoit, she travelled all over the world on their Harley Davidson’s. She rode her Harley through almost all the continental United States and 14 European countries.

She drove school bus and was a bus contractor for the Onteora school district for many years. She enjoyed the connections she made with the many students she transported over the years.

When she wasn’t traveling or working she spent her time working her horse farm and property on Goat hill and sharing her love of horses with her grandchildren, family and friends.
She passed away peacefully Thursday August 19th at home in the room that she was born in, surrounded by her family and friends who cared for her through her illness.
