KINGSTON…. Susan Morse, 75, of Sunset Garden Apartments died peacefully on March 17, 2022 at her residence. Born April 24, 1946 in Kingston she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Leona Freligh of Saugerties.
An area resident for most of her life, she was a graduate of St. Mary of the Snow Parochial School, Saugerties High School and the Benedictine School of Nursing. Upon her graduation she began her 35 year career as emergency room nurse at the Benedictine Hospital and later at Kingston Hospital where she also became a nursing supervisor. She concluded her career at Northern Dutchess Hospital where she worked in the ICU, CCU, and in the Cardiac Rehab.
She was fondly known as “Nanny Sue” to many, both children and adults, related or not Her door was always open for anyone, anytime, for anything. Whether it be for a cup of tea and conversation, to feeding hungry bellies, or a safe place to rest your head, she was there.
Her hobbies included both knitting and crochet. With her experience and talent she’s made everything from mittens and slippers to afghans, Christening gowns, Barbie clothes and more. She enjoyed/cooking, arts and crafts, and collecting porcelain dolls. She has a large variety of over 200+ collector dolls which she kept displayed year-round throughout her home.
She lived and grew up in Saugerties. Many years after starting a family in Kingston it became imperative that she needed to move and she was back to her childhood home in Saugerties for many years.
Susan is survived by a daughter, Andrea Morse of Schenectady and fiancé David Krings; two grandchildren, Adrianna Morse of Schenectady, and Kylie Fuller in Liberty; Four step children, David Morse, Joseph Morse, Francis Morse, and Maria Minkler (Morse), several step grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Bruce Freligh and a half brother, Theodore Pfeiffer.
Her Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
