Susan Newkirk

SAUGERTIES      Susan L. Newkirk, 64, of Main St., died Monday, February 5, 2024 surrounded by her family at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.   Born June 1, 1959 in Kingston she was the daughter of Ruth Myers and the late Richard Squires.   A lifetime area resident Sue was a graduate of Saugerties High School, Class of 1978.    She was employed for many years at St. Mary's School as a Teacher's Aide.

Known for her infectious smile and easy going personality, Sue was a member of the Friday nite Kof C mixed bowling league.   She played softball for Squires Paving for many years in the SAA Softball League,  SAA Volleyball and loved singing karaoke at the Partition in Saugerties.  Her favorite times were when she was surrounded by her grandchildren. 

Survivors include her loving husband, Donnie,  with whom she recently celebrated her 40th Wedding Anniversary.   Her beloved children, Larry and his wife, Jessica Santee of NYC and Tracey and her husband, Ken Gleason of Naples, NY.    Her siblings Nina Salsman, Lorraine (Steve) Winters both of Saugerties,  Rhonda Amon of Farmington and Lottie (Dennis) Zoeckler of Roanoke, TX.  6 Grandchildren: Tyler, Wilhelm, Owen, Auston, Bentley and Pierce  and several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Jane Myer, Terry Myer and Jack Squires and a nephew, Jerrime Salsman.

Her Funeral Service will be held 5:00 PM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc.
