SAUGERTIES…. Theresa R. Pesce, 98, of Malden Turnpike, died Wednesday, November 17, 2021 surrounded by family at her home. Born October 1, 1923 in Glasco she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Sasso) Ferraro. A lifetime area resident, she and her late husband, Gennaro “Gino” Pesce were co-owners of Pesce’s Bakery on Malden Turnpike.
Theresa’s house was always open to family and friends. You could always count on her to whip up a meal of spaghetti and meatballs and ice cream cake for those she loved. Theresa had a zest for life and enjoyed kayaking well into her 90’s, music and dancing, traveling, going out to weekly breakfast with “the girls,”and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Theresa was very active in the community she dearly loved. She was a parishioner and member of St. Mary’s Rosary Society where she was a mainstay on the St. Mary’s Bazaar Committee. She never missed working and cooking the fried dough for both the Bazaar and Hudson Valley Garlic Festival. She was active in the Saugerties SOS program for many years. During her early years, she was a seamstress at the Saugerties dress factory. Later in life, she was employed as a school bus driver for Lezette Express in Saugerties.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Gennaro, survivors include a son, Joseph G. and his wife, Lena Pesce of Saugerties, a daughter, Dianne and her husband Richard Paolo of Wallkill. Her grandchildren, whom she adored, Elizabeth (Michael) Kilmer of Saugerties and Joseph (Elizabeth) Pesce of Monroe, Karianne (Joe) Gomez of Fla., and Aimee Paolo of Poughkeepsie. Her great grandchildren: Corinne and Brian Kilmer, Austin, Dean and Carson Pesce, Abigail and Caitlin Gomez. Her sister, Eda (John) Mayone of Glasco. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Salvatore and Angelo Ferraro and Jane Peszerdick.
Her funeral procession will form 9:15 am Monday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties then to St. Mary of the Snow RC Church where at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
