SAUGERTIES - Tonita V. Lezette, 86, of Ebel Court, died Friday, May 2, 2025, at The Ivy Lodge in Saugerties surrounded by her family. Born August 18, 1938, in Glasco, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Victoria (Konopka) Sangi and the stepdaughter of George Seyler.
Toni, a Registered Nurse at Benedictine Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1990, cherished her family above all else. An exceptional cook, she delighted in entertaining her family and friends. In the early 1990s, she started “Nanny’s Daycare,” where she and her husband, Karl, spent the best years of their lives nurturing their seven grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the center of her universe.
Toni’s other hobbies included softball and volleyball with the SAA, and spending hours in her yard, planting, transplanting, and repeating the process until her gardens were perfectly manicured. She also loved shopping at QVC and Marshall’s.
Predeceased by her husband, Karl in 2018, her sisters Josephine Petersen of Lake Katrine, and Victoria Kosiba of Austin, Texas, her surviving family includes one son: Karl (Meg) Lezette, two daughters: Karin (Iggy) Maines and Denise (Mike) Dittus, all of Saugerties. Seven grandchildren: Jacqueline (Kevin) Curran, Kevin Lezette (Macy Michaels), Jon Lezette, Matthew (Kera) Dittus, Joe Dittus (Cami Costello), Megan (Brody) Maloney, and Ryan Terwilliger, as well as one great-grandson: Christian Dittus. She is also survived by a half-sister, Deborah (Seyler) Friberg of North Carolina. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Her Funeral Procession will form 10:30 am on Thursday, May 8th at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., on the corner of John and Lafayette Streets. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 7th from 4 to 8 pm.
