Violet M. Sutter, 96, of 56 Melissa Rd., Town of Kingston died Friday, January 9, 2026 at Northern Dutchess Hospital of heart failure. She was born January 7, 1930 in Queens, New York City to the late Mary and William O'Neil who immigrated from lreland.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Frederick; two children, Curt Sutter of Saugerties and Eric Sutter of Town of Kingston. She was first generation Irish. Violet worked full-time at Pan American Airlines in the computer section collating tickets from 1949 until 1961 which she was very proud of. She married Fred in 1956 in Cambria Heights in Queens, New York City. She was a member of the Sawkill Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary in the late 1970s. Violet collected donations yearly for muscular dystrophy for many years. Violet was the senior breakfast and lunch preparer at Zena Elementary School in the Kingston City School District from 1979 to 2001. She loved little kids and wished she had had an opportunity to be a elementary school teacher. Violet loved to cook and bake. Her best dishes were baked ziti and chili. She loved to bake oatmeal raisin cookies and chocolate chip cookies. She was a fan of the New York Mets baseball team.
Her Funeral Service will be held 1 pm Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Burial will follow at the St. Ann's Cemetery, Town of Kingston. An hour of visitation will be prior to the service. A memorial donation may be made to an organization in the fight against dementia related diseases.
