SAUGERTIES.........Wilbur F. See of Livingston St. and recently of 155 Main St, died Monday, January 11, 2021 at Golden Hill Health Related Facility. Born May 8, 1925, he was the son of the late James and Margaret Ohley See. A veteran of WWll, he served in the US Navy. From 1954-1975 he was employed at Cousins Home Appliance in Woodstock. He then opened his own business: See Television Service..
Wilbur was predeceased by Veronica M. Shultis , his wife of 52 years who passed in 2003, as well as a sister, Audrey See.
Survivors include daughter, Susan (Ronald) Kivel of Saugerties, son, David of Lockport, NY as well as four grandsons: Brendan (Meaghan) See of Schenectady, Justin (Christine) Kivel of San Diego, Evan See of Austin, TX, and Matthew Kivel of Holly, MI. He is also survived by three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Harry(Gloria) See of FL, and his former daughter in law Cynthia See of Lockport, NY.
A lifelong Saugerties resident, Wilbur spent his retirement years in attending to his beloved wife during her illness. He learned to play the clarinet, worked as a docent at the Rondout Maritime Museum and helped tutor elementary students in reading and math. Wilbur was an active member of the Hudson Valley Humanist Society. He was very proud of his volunteer work at the Ulster County SPCA as a dog walker for almost 9 years. There he made many friends, both canine and human and loved to walk the strong and frisky pups.
At Wilbur's request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ulster County SPCA, 20 Wiedy Road, Kingston, 12401. or to Planned Parenthood.
