William Dias, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, in Celebration, Florida, at the age of 81. He was born on August 11, 1943, in Passaic, NJ to the late John and Vera Dias.
William was known for his sharp mind and kind heart. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force, an honor he carried throughout his days. After his military service, William embarked on a successful career as a Software Architect, making significant contributions to both IBM and ESPN. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending hours volunteering at the computer museum in Roswell, Georgia sharing his expertise with others.
Family was the cornerstone of William's life. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Joyce (Alan) Crudo and Jill Dias Schindler. He cherished his role as a grandfather to William, Isabella, Leah, and Sydney. William's love for his family began with the 48 years of marriage to his late wife, Brenda, who predeceased him, as did his siblings, Ferdinand, John, Mary, George, and Jerry.
William’s many interests were second to the excitement he shared taking his grandchildren to Disney World, making full use of his Silver Pass, which was a source of pride and joy. These outings were not just about the rides and attractions, but about the precious, laughter-filled moments he shared with his grandchildren. He and Brenda owned a campsite at the Strawberry Park Resort campground in Preston Connecticut, where he took his family on vacation from the time his daughters were young. He continued to share precious experiences there with his grandchildren. These memories will be treasured by his family forever.
His Funeral Service will be held at 10 am Sunday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Burial will follow in the Blue Mt. Cemetery. His visitation will be 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the ComputerMuseumOfAmerica.org, honoring his passion for technology or the American Cancer Society.
