SAUGERTIES…Thomas J. Macarille, 79, of Cottonwood Circle, died Sunday January 27, 2019 at the JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Fla. Born July 9, 1939 in Coeymans, NY he was the son of the late James and Rose Cashara Macarille. Tom served our nation and was honorably discharged from the US Navy and upon returning home became a member of the Saugerties American Legion Post #72. He was employed at IBM as a manager, retiring in 1992 after over 30 years. Tom was parishioner of St. Joseph’s RC Church, Glasco and a member of the Holy Name. Active in the community he was elected to serve on the Saugerties Town Board and also served on the Saugerties School Board. He was a former member of the Diaz Ambulance Board. He enjoyed sports and followed the New York Giants and Yankees.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn; son, Pastor James (Jennifer) Macarille, Katsbaan Reformed Church, daughter, Danine Allen of Rhinebeck, a sister, Marsha (Chuck) Motta, step son, William and step daughter, Lisa, four grandchildren, two step grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by a grandson Jared Macarille.
His Funeral Procession will form 9:15 am Tuesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. Cor. of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Thence to the St. Mary of the Snow Church where at 10 am Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Blue Mountain Cemetery, Saugerties. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Family suggests donations in his memory be made to the American Heart Assoc. or a charity of one’s choice.
