Anthony C. Hackett

SAUGERTIES…… Anthony C. “Cal” Hackett, 83, of Cole Place died Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, NY.  Born May 17, 1938 in Saugerties he was the son of the late Anthony and Mabel McFarland Hackett.  A graduate of St. Mary’s and Saugerties High School and Ulster County Community College, Cal began a career at Rotron for ten years followed by Alpha Cement Co. in management, ownership of Hackett’s Market Place on Market St., Ulster Co. Sheriff Dept. under Sheriff Tom Mayone part time and finally at Ferroxcube/Phillips until his retirement.

Active in the community Cal served on Board of Trustees of the Village of Saugerties and on the Planning and Water Board.  He was a member of the Town of Saugerties Republican Party and a former member of the Saugerties Elks Lodge and the Saugerties Fish and Game.  Cal was known as “Mr. Fix it” to many family and friends.  He could build or fix anything and enjoyed wood working where he built many toys, doll houses and projects for his grandchildren, who he loved deeply and unconditionally.  Many of his grandchildren were his best friend who they affectionately called their “Poppy”.  

Survivors include his wife the former Gail Morgan, with whom he recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary, three sons: Donald (Paula) Hackett of Saugerties, Rowland (Tina) Hackett of Palenville and Daniel (Jennifer) Hackett of Canandaigua.  A sister, Kathleen Branon of Lockport, Ill., 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.  He was predeceased by his son, Callie Hackett.

His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts.,Saugerties.  Burial will follow in the Blue Mt.
