Catherine Ducker Obituary

SAUGERTIES- Catherine N. Ducker, 90, formerly of Finger St., died peacefully Friday, April 23, 2021 at TenBroeck Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Lake Katrine, after a seven-year battle with dementia. Born January 9, 1931 in Saugerties, she was the daughter of the late Lena Valk and Herbert E. North. A lifetime resident of Saugerties and communicate of Saint Mary’s of the Snow Roman Catholic Church, she was a graduate of St. Mary’s of the Snow parochial school and Saugerties High School class of 1948. She married, Alan C. Ducker of Flatbush, on Nov. 6, 1949. Catherine worked side by side with her late mother Lena, at North’s Texaco Station, while simultaneously with her husband Alan, owned and operated, Catherine’s Toys and Bike Shop in Saugerties. After closing her own businesses, she worked as the manager of the women’s department at Hess’s Department store in Kingston from 1981 until their closing in 1995. Catherine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 72 Saugerties, St. Mary’s of the Snow Altar Rosary Society and the Saugerties Bowlers’ Club Wednesday morning women’s league. She also enjoyed playing golf.She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Alan C. Ducker In addition to her daughter Penny L. Ducker and (wife Barbara Buddenhagen) of Ulster Park, she is also survived by John S. Scarselli of Hyde Park, Richard K. Hines of Naples, Maine, and Donald J. “DJ” Hines of Rhinebeck and their families. She was affectionally known as “Nana” to Brooke, Brendan and Carter Hines. Her family is extremely grateful to the staff at TenBroeck Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Dewitt wing, for their compassionate care. We are especially grateful to Regina Rivera, for all the care and extra love she showed my mother, “her Granny”, who stayed with her till her last breath, and for her previous caregiver and “partner in crime” … Vinne Uvino Goyer and husband Rick, who made her pre-TenBroeck years some of her happiest! There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was said at Saint Mary's of the Snow Roman Catholic Church corner of Cedar and Post Sts., 10:30 a.m.,Saturday, May 1, 2021. Inurnment, immediately following, at St. Mary's of the Snow Cemetery, Rt 9w Barclay Heights. Face mask and social distancing will be followed at church and at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.
