SAUGERTIES….. James L. Halwick, 67, of Bruin Dr. passed peacefully surrounded by his family after battling dementia for the past ten years.    Born March 27, 1955 in Kingston he was the son of the late Harold and Joan Closi Halwick.  A lifetime area resident. He was a veteran of the US Navy as a Sonar Technician serving from 1973-79. Jim was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the National Service Medal and the Battle Efficiency E Award.  He was employed as a laser technician at IBM and its affiliates until retirement.

            He was a member of the Saugerties American Legion Post #72  Survivors include his wife the former, Denise Norman, a daughter, Alisha (Ryan) Olive of Mt. Marion. Three sons: Jimmy Brown and Logan Halwick both of Saugerties and Jarrett(Mary) Halwick of Catskill.  Two sisters, Debbie (Dick) Martin of Utah and Sherry (Tim) Ralph of Ruby.   Four grandchildren: Ryker and Arya Olive, Kora and Kamryn Halwick, several nieces and nephews also survive.  He was predeceased by his sister, Tracy McGuinnis.  He loved his family, dog (Boots), two cats (Baby and Smores) as well as riding trikes and motorcycles.  Jim had an ear for music, accordion, guitar and keyboard.  He enjoyed sitting around campfires, star gazing and fireworks.

            His service of Remembrance will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts. Saugerties.  Interment will follow in the Blue Mt. Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Saturday from 1pm to 2PM.   Family suggests donations in his memory be made to Ulster County Hospice.
