Jean Campbell Obituary

Ormond Beach, FL

Jean Campbell, 91, of Center Street, Ormond Beach, died peacefully Tuesday, June 20 surrounded by her loving family at the Opus Coquina Center in Ormond Beach. Jean was a former a resident of Quarryville in Saugerties, NY before retiring to Florida in 1971. She was born on November 6, 1926 in Kingston, NY, daughter of the late Charles and Mary O'Roarke Schoonmaker. Predeceased by the love of her life and husband Robert G. Campbell whom she was Owner/Operator of the Blue Stone Restaurant in Quarryville for 25 years prior to retirement.
Jean was the family matriarch, chief family care giver and a stern motivator. She was a devout Catholic and very active in the Prince of Peace Church community for many years and volunteered a great many hours at the early annual Octoberfest events. In addition to her many years of stewardship, many days were spent tending to others whether it be at the Bakery in the Bel Air Plaza, Hickory Farms, Daytona Beach County Club snack shack or providing childcare for others in the community. Jean was truly a compassionate person with a strong desire that everything be done lovingly on "her terms". She will be dearly missed by the family and by the many who have crossed her path. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Thomas and Mary Campbell of Ormond Beach, Fl., Patrick and Dorothy Campbell of Miami Shores, Fl, her Grandchildren, Steven Campbell, Meredyth Campbell and Matthew Campbell and her cousin Thomas Hull Esq. of Binghamton, NY. She was predeceased locally by her cousins: Dona O'Rourke, Donald, Thomas, and Fritz Beckert.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jean was held June 22, 2018, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Ormond Beach. Interment at the Volusia Memoria Park in Ormond Beach.
