SAUGERTIES…Joan Merritt, 81, of Collins Rd. and a former resident of Cementon, died Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Kingston Hospital. Born on November 11, 1937 in Elizabeth, NJ she was the daughter of the late John and Sophie Lutchko. For many years Joannie was employed at Frank’s Hunting Lodge in Saugerties as the head chef and later at the Saugerties Jr./Sr. High School in the cafeteria. Joanie's family would like to thank the staff at Kingston Hospital for all their helpful assistance.
Survivors include her daughter, Leslie (Doug) Durling of Saugerties; sons, Charles (Kathleen) Merritt, Jr. of Saugerties, Roy (Karen) Merritt of West Camp, Ralph (with whom she resided) of Saugerties; grandchildren, Chip (Shannon) Merritt of Saugerties, Heather (Michael) Bonestell of Kerhonkson and Jerry (Mary) McCarthy of Michigan; a sister, Freda Lenzo of NJ and nine great grandchildren also survive. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Sr. in 1993.
Her Funeral Service will be held 8:30 PM Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., cor. of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Visitation will be prior to service from 6 – 8:30 PM.
