Patricia A. Thornton

Patricia A. Thornton, 80, of Bennett Ave. died Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home.  Born September 18, 1941 in Cementon she was the daughter of the late James and Blanche Post Wynne.

A lifetime area resident, she was a graduate of Saugerties High School class of 1959 and the Benedictine School of Nursing. She was employed for many years at the Benedictine Hospital in Kingston.  She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Snow RC Church and was active in the Saugerties Little League and PTA.  Much of her time was devoted to watching her children and grandchildren playing baseball and softball at the Cantine field, basketball at the Donlon Auditorium, and hockey at the Kiwanis ice arena.  She loved to travel to Cape Cod with her family and cooking all of her famous recipes, which she shared lovingly with her friends and family.  The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Ten Broeck Commons for their compassionate care of mom and in particular her family on the Esopus wing.  

Predeceased by her husband, William F. Thornton, in 1977, and a daughter, Suzanne “Suzy” Thornton Filak, survivors include a daughter, Beth Petramale and her partner Larry Siracusano and two sons: William and his Fiancée Kate Peck and Mark and his wife Lisa, all of Saugerties. Her eight grandchildren-  Justin Lawless, Nicholas Petramale, Kaeli, Eric, Mitchell, Brett Thornton, Stephen and Claire Filak.  Two great grandchildren also survive, Joseph and Olivia Petramale, little Olivia born just hours after her passing.

Her Funeral Procession will form 10:15 AM Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts. Thence to St. Mary of the Snow RC  where at 11:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.  Friends will be received Thursday 4:00-7:00  PM.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Saugerties Little League in her memory to PO Box 382, Saugerties, NY. 12477.
