Regalada (Reggie) Costello, 94, of Meadow Ct. and formerly of Brooklyn died Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. Born May 13, 1928 in Cayey, Puerto Rico she was the daughter of the late Angel and Reyes DeJesus.
Regalada received her Master’s Degree from Hunter College. She was a Spanish teacher for 48 years, teaching at Erasmus Hall and Edward R. Murrow High Schools in Brooklyn. While tiny in stature at 4'11'', she always loomed large in the classroom, with both colleagues and students looking up to her as a teacher, role model, and person. She was a very active member of her Church. She had a special gift for presentations and playwriting and her annual Christmas and Easter plays will be remembered for years to come.
Reggie was predeceased by her husband, Jose in 1991, and daughter-in-law Linda Costello. Together, Jose 'Tony' and Reggie raised their 3 surviving sons, David (Annette) Costello of Middletown, Marc Costello of Brooklyn and Peter (Theresa) Costello of Saugerties. She has been a very loving and giving grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren for over 40 years. She was a very generous, loving family member and friend.
Reggie's Funeral Service will be held 6:30 PM Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Friends will be received Wednesday from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM. Burial will take place on Thursday at 11:30 AM at Pinelawn National Cemetery, Pinelawn, Long Island. Family suggests donations in her memory be made to Immanuel and First Spanish United Methodist Church, 422 Dean St., Brooklyn, 11217.
