SAUGERTIES.... Robert M. "Bob" Quirk, 90, of John St., died Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck, NY. Born February 21, 1931 in Beacon he was the son of the late Aloysious and Pearl Quirk.
Bob proudly served his country during the Korean War in the US Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged and began a 39 year career with Central Hudson retiring in 1992. Active in the Saugerties community he was a Life Member and Past Commander of the Saugerties American Legion Post #72 where he served on the House Committee and for many years was a loyal member of the Legion Burial Squad Team. He and his late wife, Faye, volunteered many hours for the Saugerties Babe Ruth League and at the Kiwanis Ice Arena. In later years he sold and greeted people at the Stallions baseball games. He also enjoyed his morning coffee solving the problems of the world at McDonalds with a regular crew of friends.
Predeceased by his wife, Faye in 2019, survivors include his daughter, Eileen Weaver, two sons, Edward (Lee) and Joseph (Alice) Quirk all of Saugerties. A brother, Aloysious Quirk of Beacon, seven grandchildren, Joshua, Sean, Stephanie (Ernest) Quick, Robert (Sheila), Christopher (Lindsay), Lorna and Mckena.six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jack, William, Joan and Violet.
HIs Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Burial with military honors will be conducted in the Blue Mt. Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Saugerties American Legion.
