Rocco "Rocky" Barbetta

SAUGERTIES...Rocco "Rocky" Barbetta, 70, of Post St. died Friday, April 28, 2023 at his residence. He was born on July 15, 1952 to the late Dominick and Connie Capperllieri Barbetta. He attended Saugerties High School and continued his education at the Culinary Institute of America, graduating in 1975. He continued on to work in over 30 restaurants as a professional chef. He loved food and cooking for those special people in his life. His giant personality made him a friend of many, and he never shied away from helping someone in need. He later became a substance abuse counselor and worked in many prisons, institutions, and most recently at Abel House in Saugerties. Rocky was an active member of Narcatics Anonymous, with over 30 years clean. He was an all around sports fan, especially the New York teams. He loved to gamble, always playing Win 4 numbers and planning his next casino trip. 

Survivors include his wife of over 19 years, Peggy; children, Goldie Barbetta of Saugerties, Michael (Emily Baer) Guthaus of Hudson, and Gigi McQuillan of Manhattan; grandchild, Layla Guthaus; brother Anthony Barbetta and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Antonio Barbetta.

His Funeral Procession will form Wednesday 8:45 AM at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts. Procession will continue to the St. James Church, Kingston for a 10 AM service. Visitation will be held Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  A memorial Tribute Book will be organized using condolences and photos shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
